About
The Lightship Basket style of weaving began aboard lightships—floating lighthouses stationed off the coast of Nantucket in the late 1800s. This uniquely American art form is celebrated for its timeless coastal style and craftsmanship. Fisher Nantuckets is proud to carry on this tradition, offering both classic Lightship Basket designs and original pieces inspired by the beauty and integrity of this iconic weaving technique.
Abby Fisher founded Fisher Nantuckets shortly after a family vacation to Nantucket, where she fell in love with the artistry of Nantucket Lightship Basket jewelry. Having spent summers on Cape Cod as a child, Abby was already familiar with traditional Lightship Baskets, but discovering their transformation into accessories was something new and inspiring. Abby now hand-weaves and designs each piece from her home studio in Kingston, Massachusetts. The Fisher Nantuckets collection has since grown to include handbags, clutch purses, trinket bowls, and of course, the signature basket jewelry—all crafted with the same care, tradition, and coastal charm that first sparked her passion.
All pieces are woven with care by Abby Fisher. Monograms, text, and designs are done by a third-party using engraving and scrimshaw. Cuff style bracelets are woven around a flexible brass frame and can be adjusted by gently squeezing. Each piece has a protective polyurethane seal, but they are not waterproof and should not get wet.
